We are planning a route through America which are the best places to see?

We are driving through from Detroit Michigan to Tampa Florida and are trying to find places to go, we have been advised that Hocking Hills Ohio is worth a visit, and Jacksonville, Speedway and Knoxville but still keen to hear more about places in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabamma, Georgia and North Florida as we really don't want to miss any of the goodspots...

  1. If you want to see America, how about the National Parks? Here's a link:http://www.nps.gov/

  5. I don't know what you're in to but if you like natural wonders and things like that:

    In Florida:

I would recommend Destin Beach, if your going to see the Gulf, really nice beach.

There is also a awesome place called Ichetucknee Springs, you can rent an inner tube and float down the crystal clear/spring fed river. It's a good way to see undeveloped Florida.

By Tallahassee there is Wakulla Springs, the largest and deepest spring system in the world. National Geographic did a whole issue there. You can swim and snorkel or just take glass bottom boat ride and see the alligators and wildlife.

In Georgia there is a place called Providence Canyon State Park. It's a pretty cool place.

  6. It depends on what highways you are traveling.

Nashville, Tn - lots to see, lots of live music

Memphis, Tn, Elvis, Graceland, need I say more

Savannah, Ga. - one of the most beautiful cities in American, lots of history, beautiful buildings, amazing cemeteries. Lots of tours to go on from civil war, general history, ghosts, pub crawls, etc

Jekyll Island, Ga. About an hour south of Savannah, a little above Florida, great place. It is one of Georgia's Golden Isles. And in my opinion the best. Not very crowded. Lots of history on the island. It is beautiful. There is a water park. Great place to relax. If you go the right time of year you can see sea turtles. They also have a sea turtle rehabilitation center you can tour.

Ohio - You got the Rock and Roll hall of fame in Cleavland. Football hall of fame in Canton.

Travel Tip... Once you find out your route, then look at visitors sites for each state, or stop off and the visitors center when you cross the state line. Look for cool things to do along your route. And always pad extra time in case you see something cool off the highway!

    Hope this helped!!

  7. In Kentucky, you should definitely stop by Lake Cumberland. It's beautiful, and I'm pretty sure you can rent boats. If you can't, it's still worth your while to stop and just check it out.

Nashville is full of neat stuff, obviously a lot of the sites have to do with country music, but it's still very cool to see even if you don't like country.

  8. It's little out of your way, but if you can check out Chicago. Go to the north side of the city. It's called Lakeview. The nickname for the neighborhood is "Wrigleyville." It is where the Chicago Cubs baseball park is located. Even if the Cubs are not playing that day, there is plenty of things to do. There is also Navy Pier. If anything you will be able to tell people you've been there.
