Why does everyone say ohio sucks.. best amusement park: cedar point... Best Hospital: cleveland clinic..cavs!?
ive seen on countless blogs and websites, even on here saying ohio sucks ..... bashing everything from our economy, sports, weather, even to our countryside ..... i grew up 30 mins out of downtown cleveland and now reside in marysville 20 mins out of columbus and couldn't live anywhere else.... i own my own business and i travel from state to state sometimes even country to country to sale battery backups ..... in short ive been to every state in the union and i dont think any of them are any better then ohio ... we have the best amusement park in the usa in cedar point.... top 3 best hospital on the PLANET in the cleveland clinic .. .and sports although times have been tough with my browns we have some of the most passionate fans in the world when it comes to our buckeyes and browns.... and now we have lebron james an akron native who no matter where i go now i have those jump on the band wagon fans who only like people that are good loving my cavs ..... our economy has had it rough but its like that all over the world and we a probably the most population depth midwest state all the big cities we have ... .columbus, cleveland, Cinci, toledo, akron/canton, dayton, youngstown .... we were big in steel industry which is no more thanks to nafta i still drive to our most depressed city in youngstown and eat downtown and my fave lil italian place there and never feel unsafe like i do when i go anywhere near detroit... i think our state is going to get into the "green" era with our supple land that is surrounded by water (lake erie, and ohio river) with the workforce we have with our land we could really turn this around for our economy.... ohio state is a great school and everywhere i go people at least respect my buckeyes(not many wolverine fans can say that)... and our weather does sucks lots of cold and gloomy but we dont worry about hurricanes... we really never had an earthquake... we get tornados as does every u.s state but none cause much damage.... and ohio fall is one of the most beautiful you can find anywhere.... dont get my wrong i love the usa ... the carolinas are beautiful... i love georgia... and manhattan is unlike any other city in this world and i love it too. ... but ohio doesn't suck!!!!

- that last answer was dumb there is like 6 cities with more then 60,000 people 1 with more then 700,000 people, like 12 million in the state its literally impossible to drive north to south and not see buildings you could drive along the ohio river and not see skyscrapers because you follow the country for people that like the senic drive... to answer the question americas main beef with ohio is its conservative... no casino, and there isnt a strip club every 2 miles.... and we have always had very competative sports and economy ...... even some tourism people come from all over to see the rock n roll hall of fame and the football hall of fame and cedar point ...... we really fell off under bush administration .... we are getting competative with sports again... go cavs!!!! ... and our economy will come together when americas economy picks back up .... i love ohio weather does kind of suck summers are too humid and winters are too long .... but your right no worries with hurricans flash floods or anything .... and we always have a white christmas:)... if you want to gamble do it right and go to vegas ... if want strip clubs start working out and stop being nasty and get a women.... thats my piece
- People are so close minded. There is plenty to do and see here, people just in some cases have to look a little deeper.

- I'm originally from down near Marysville (Bellefontaine) and now live in Parma...I love Ohio too. It's not exactly exciting, but it's good. It's home. It is beautiful. I love going back down home for weekends at my parents...the kids can run and play, the corn and soybean fields are beautiful, the hills and trees and country life....I do love it here for sure! I love it up here in Cleveland too. I think I'm a country girl who was always a city girl at heart.
- Did you realize that all but one of the entertainment plusses you mentioned were Cleveland based? Send somebody to Toledo or Cincinnati and those are non-factors. As for Youngstown, when was the last time you heard of somebody piling their family in a car for summer vacation just because the city had a restaurant downtown? The truth you misstated is that Youngstown and Cleveland lost most of their steel mills long before NAFTA existed. Also, Ohio is on a very short list of states within the past five years whose governor was convicted of a crime. That tends to nationally get the wrong type of attention related to the perceived intelligence of your fellow voters. Finally, over that same five year period, few states have lost more jobs in ALL sectors than Ohio has. Do you think locally owned retail stores and restaurants are moving to Mexico and Canada from Ohio too?
I was born, raised and continue to live in Ohio. Frankly, if the best thing you can come up with is "We're not as crime ridden as Detroit", "Our tornadoes are weaker than they are in other states" or by just giving flat out wrong historical facts, then you probably answered your own question as your were asking it. I agree that Ohio doesn't suck, but it's not exactly the utopia you paint it to be either.
